[Session 2] Recapping and Dialing in on What the Story is about: a Sci-Fi story of Colene

Recapping post from a year ago in itallics. Generating new information to add on to the story a bit.

Story Seed
A new story will involve a character set in a nervous mood seekingsomething needed or very much desired in the future outdoor location against afast-moving myriapoda (centipede or millipede like).
Using Grammar Fuel Science Fiction Genre & Subgenres book. Random d100 = 53 Science, random d100 = 20 Noun, random d100 = Astrobiology
Astrobiology studies life in the universe.
Is the story about studying the myriaoda? flip coin, tails, no.
Is the story about eliminating myriaoda? flip coin, heads, yes.
Main Character
Colene is more of a practical problem solver, intuitive, yet skilled instealth and persuasion—not really charming. She is more manipulativethrough logic, wisdom, intelligence, and intuition—rather than byappearance and charm—maybe using psychic or cybernetic manipulation. Shecan move quietly and is resilient.
The meaning of the name Colene is "girl". The name has both a natural strength, mesmerizing, and enchanting quality.

[Session 1] Setting up the next story genre, setting, story, and main character: a Sci-Fi story of Colene

Reposting from Reddit post from a year ago.

The skill shift question-poll for target Poll posted in my prior post will go for a few more days.
In the meantime, this post is setting up a whole new genre, story, setting, and character.
If you don't already have it, you can pick up Coin Solo RPG System 1.07 edition PDF at the following address. Thanks, for those who have supported the system by purchasing the PDF that originates from this subreddit.

The tools in bold indicate which tools I used and from where.
So, I used the three RPG PDFs of Story Mechanisms (which contains most of the tools), Fact Generator 2e, and Theme Generator 2e. The Story Mechanisms does also include the Theme Generator 1e, but I want to use 2e for now on.
Keywords generated: Future Sci-Fi; outdoor; seek; against myriopoda; movement sense; motive deceive; nervous mood; will vs. need.

My adventure seed interpretation of the keywords:

A new story will involve a character set in a nervous mood seeking something needed or very much desired in the future outdoor against a fast moving myriapoda (centipede or millipede like).
The story motivation is to deceive the foe while seeking the needed whatever.

Most of the Genre & Subgenre series is complete

For the past 1 1/2 years, the zines have focused on several genres and subgenres in gaming and fiction. Most of the obvious subgenres have a focused issue. A few scattered subgenres remain; however, they are mostly minor subgenres.

The issues may change the focus for the next little while.

Thanks!

Appreciation for "Jackalope Wives" from the anthology Nebula Awards Showcase 2016

For short story appreciation month, I'd like to appreciate short stories.

I just checked out an anthology that I've never tried before.

I read the award winning short story "Jackalope Wives" by Ursula Vernon from Nebula Awards Showcase 2016. Its an transformational story that begins almost like a YA fantasy romance, yet quickly becomes a more mature story about Grandma Harken with fitting ending.

May is short story appreciation Month.

May is short story appreciation Month.

I just recently finished a short story gameplay involving 22 sessions during the past half-year over a my subreddit—the second solo adventure gameplay using my Coin Solo RPG System.

I'm not sure what to do for this month: write, read, appreciate, review, publish, or revise?

Last year, I posted last year's short story on this day. This year I just refer to check it out on over at my Solo_RPG_Tools subreddit for those 18+ years old.

Working with Lyrical Grammar Fuel: 1980s Harder Rock (Part 4) "Deck of Cards (Game of Chance)" by Ken Wickham

These song lyrics are a work of fiction written for poetry purposes. There are no current music attached to the lyrics. The fictional character Lightning Fast Eddie and the entire song Deck of Cards (Game of Chance) is entirely fictional created randomly in exercise #1 and in a freewriting in exercise #2 during Poetry Appreciation Month. Any resemblance to any other work is purely coincidental.

I'm removing a line that I don't like.

You sent me a card each year.

With the remaining words created in the freewriting exercise. I'll bring everything else together into a long initial rough draft divided into verses, chorus, and bridges. It's long—a 4 verse song— but it's just a rough draft.

Working Title of hard rock song: "Deck of Cards (Game of Chance)"

By Ken Wickham (for fictional character Lightning Fast Eddie™) © 2021 All rights reserved.

Verse 1
What's left to do? I left it all behind.
It's all left unsaid. Left that town far behind.
Left you in my dust.
Left with nothing but the cards that I've been dealt.

Chorus
When I play my cards, I win.
Shuffling cards is a game of chance.
In my hand a deck of cards for the game.
My ace card is ready, I'm ready to play.

Verse 2
Despised theft, not a chance, never trustin' a troll.
Blast that one on his ass. Never good, never real.
Outlast the stealer of souls—an outcast.
Blew it all very fast, on the last one to stare.

Chorus
When I play my cards, I win.
Shuffling cards is a game of chance.
In my hand a deck of cards for the game.
My ace card is ready, I'm ready to play.

Bridge
The past moments—past times.
The past good times and rides.
In a past life, I've flown.
It's past time for a change.

Verse 3
Never a moment to spare.
Never low, never there.
We can never reach the other side of the world.
We never left our cards from our past life.

Chorus
When I play my cards, I win.
Shuffling cards is a game of chance.
In my hand a deck of cards for the game.
My ace card is ready, I'm ready to play.

Bridge
Whoever left a heart once blind, past times unaware.
In one regard, the past is the future, never left answered prayer.
Guard the chance of one moment.

Verse 4
Ever present, never there.
However, you dare to share.
Whenever we reach for that moment,
a moment to care.

Chorus
When I play my cards, I win.
Shuffling cards is a game of chance.
In my hand a deck of cards for the game.
My ace card is ready, I'm ready to play.

The silence raises the night from the first to the last.
